Museum of Illusions Orlando at ICON Park®

The Museum of Illusions Orlando is located in ICON Park® in the heart of International Drive.  ICON Park is home to more than 50 shops, restaurants, and attractions.   The Museum of Illusions is just one of 7 featured attractions at ICON Park, the other attractions include The Wheel, Madame Tussauds Orlando, SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium, Pearl Express Train, and In The Game.

We took the trip to ICON Park, specifically to visit Gordon Ramsay’s Fish & Chips.  You can click on the video below to see what we thought of Gordon’s restaurant.

While researching ICON Park, I came across the Museum of Illusions and thought it would be worth a stop.  I figured that our little guy might enjoy it since he fancies himself a magician and will occasionally attempt card and magic tricks.

I keep telling him that he’s not supposed to tell us how the tricks are done, but that doesn’t stop him from giving away the illusion.  This museum is perfect for those in your group that geek out on illusions and want to know how they are performed.

Before I share our experience, let’s cover some of the need-to-know information if you’re considering a visit to the Museum of Illusions Orlando.

Museum of Illusions Orlando Address

While the museum is technically located at 8441 International Drive, we used the ICON Park address, 8375 International Drive, Orlando FL 32819 in our GPS.

ICON Park Admission

It is free to get into Icon Park.  If you’ve never been before think of it as an open air mall that costs nothing to visit.

Museum of Illusions Orlando Parking

ICON Park offers a seven-story covered parking garage on site.

I-Ride Trolley

If you happen to be staying on International Drive and are not driving or would prefer not drive to ICON Park, then the I-Ride Trolley is an option to get you to and from your hotel.

At the time of this writing, they offer 1-, 3-, 5-, 7- and 14-day Hop-on Hop-off passes.  The prices are $6.00, $8.00, $10.00, $16.00. and $20.00 respectively.

It’s also worth noting that the trolley will take you to locations beyond Icon Park and looks to be a convenient way to explore other attractions in the area.

Museum of Illusions Orlando Tickets

Their site does say that you should book online to save on admission and get the best price guarantee.  Interestingly, when researching the latest prices, I found different prices on different links on their webpages.

Museum of Illusions Locations

Museum of Illusions Orlando is one of 40 locations, in 25 countries spread out over 4 continents.  You can find a Museum of Illusions anywhere from Atlanta to Vienna.  The concept has been franchised worldwide and this does lead to some distinctions from one location to another.

With so many locations around the globe, chances are that you have one in a major city near you.

Our Experience: Museum of Illusions Orlando Photos

We were all excited to walk into the Museum of Illusions Orlando because we knew our little guy would love it even before we walked in.  From the first exhibit to the last, we found that most of them were interactive or had some sort of hands-on component, which as you can imagine will always be a winner with the kids.

Rock Wall

Now we know how those Hollywood, ‘I’m hanging off a cliff’ stunts are done!  I unlike my little guy will not give away this illusion but will leave it to you to ponder.

Head on the Plate

This one as the name implies presents the illusion of having someone’s head on a plate.  And just how did we get just his head on the plate?  I can assure you; it was painless.

Symmetry Room

This room lets you play with symmetrical reflections. We had fun putting ourselves in different and unusual poses.

Infinity Room

Now this room was a lot of fun.  One word of caution here for your littles, our son got so excited running around that he misjudged the illusion and literally ran right into a mirror.  There was no harm done, but it’s something to keep in mind.

Ames Room

This room plays with perspective.  Our little guy is shorter than his dad, but is he really that small?

Infinity Well

This one gives you a view of what it looks like to peer into a bottomless pit.  It’s a little disorienting to say the least! Strike a pose for your camera and show the horror in your face as you fall through the pit. Hint: you can take a photo then rotate it to mimic falling upside down.

Clone Table

This illusion is set-up so that it appears that you are playing cards with four of your closest friends, you! Our little guy loved playing with the cards, and we got some great slow motion video with him tossing the cards at this exhibit.

Was it Magical?

Would we do the Museum of Illusions Orlando again?  While I was writing this, our little guy leaned over my shoulder and said, “Can we go again?”  So, I guess that means we’re in for another trip through the field of illusions.

I have to agree with him that it was a fun and entertaining break away from running around the theme parks and yes, I would do it again.  The one thing that I would advise you especially if you’re looking to visit the Orlando location is that I would look for discounted admission.

On our visit, we were able to take advantage of the Family 4 pass where each ticket was $19.25 per person plus tax $9.12 taxes/fees for a total of $86.12 for our family of four.  It looks like this pass has been replaced with the Family 8 pass and is no longer available.

I would hesitate to pay full price for the experience given the relatively small size of this location.  It only took us around 40 minutes to complete the museum and this included seeing each exhibit, while occasionally having to wait for the group in front of us to move through the space.

Since our little guy asked for us to visit again, we will likely check out the Museum of Illusions New York to see what differences we spot between the two locations.

If you’re interested in learning about the New York location and how it differs from the Orlando location, leave a comment below and we’ll give it a visit.  I will say that I’m already intrigued since it looks like the Museum of Illusions New York has a magician on hand twice week.

Until next time, Enjoy the journey!
