Overview of LEGOLAND Florida

7 Things You Need to Know for Your Visit to LEGOLAND Florida

  • If you're interested in staying at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort, they do run specials and have vacation packages on their website. Be sure to check to see if you can save on your stay

  • Should you decide to stay at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort, you will have free breakfast included daily and free self-parking

  • The LEGOLAND Theme Parks DO NOT accept cash. It's cards only!

  • Purchase your tickets in advance on the LEGOLAND Florida website to take advantage of any discounts that may be available

  • Though they sell an add-on that allows you to skip the line, known as FASTRACK, you may not need it depending on when you are visiting the theme park

  • While you won't need to do Walt Disney World level planning to enjoy the day at LEGOLAND Florida, it would be helpful to download the theme park app and get a lay of the land in advance of your visit so that you have a general idea of what rides and attractions are most important to you and where you might want to eat

  • To really fully enjoy LEGOLAND Florida, you are likely to need a minimum of two days to explore the park. If you're interested in the Water Park and/or the Peppa Pig Theme Park, you should plan to add an extra day for each

What to expect on your first visit to LEGOLAND Florida

This visit was our first time at LEGOLAND in Florida and I will say that we were impressed. The general expectation was that there was likely to be plenty for our little guy to do and enjoy, but not so much for us to do with him. Boy, were we wrong!

While it's true that the theme park has its fair share of rides that are designed only for children, there was more in the way of family rides than we expected.

You should know that if you're interested in more than a day trip, the theme park does have two hotels on the property, the Pirate Island Hotel, LEGOLAND Hotel and, one near the LEGOLAND Resort, the Beach Retreat.

If you are like us, you also may not have realized that there is more than one theme park available to explore. There is the original LEGOLAND Theme Park, the Water Park and the latest addition, the Peppa Pig Theme Park.

What age is best for LEGOLAND Florida?

You might expect us to say LEGOLAND Florida is for little kids. In fact, we anticipated that every ride in the park would be geared toward toddlers and little kids. We were pleasantly surprised to walk past the carousel, and bump right into Mia's Riding Adventure in the Heartlake City area of the park.

This ride was the first of many to have over a 40" height requirement, which usually translates into a faster and more thrilling ride. Our opinion is that LEGOLAND has a little something for everyone.

The Big Shop LEGOLAND Florida

And in case you're wondering, yes adults can have a good time here as well. We'd be so bold enough to say that as adults who are not huge LEGO® fans we both had a good time at LEGOLAND Florida and are looking forward to spending more time at the park.

The 3D family rides were fun. My husband who enjoys roller coasters, enjoyed the ones that he had a chance to ride (see below) and if you are into LEGOs, this park is a dream come true!

Are there on-site hotels at Legoland Florida?

While our first visit was as day guests, we are definitely interested in staying one or two nights at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort. Here's what we've learned about the LEGOLAND Florida hotels as we begin to sketch out a future visit.

LEGOLAND Florida Resort Hotels

LEGOLAND Hotel

Having recently stayed at the LEGOLAND New York hotel, it seems that this would be a very similar experience. This LEGOLAND hotel in Florida has similarly themed rooms, but expanded to represent the areas of the park. There's a choice between:

  • LEGO NINJAGO® Rooms

  • Adventure Rooms

  • Pirate Rooms

  • Kingdom Rooms

  • LEGO Friends Rooms

  • The LEGO MOVIE™ Rooms

The great thing about all of these rooms is that kids have their own sleeping area with a bunk bed and television. There's also a great in-room scavenger hunt that leads to a LEGO prize and let's not forget, a bin full of LEGOs is supplied in the room for kids to play with.

There are three eateries at this hotel:

  • The Bricks Restaurant, where the food is served as an all you care to eat buffet

  • The Skye Lounge, where parents can find a full bar, and lunch and dinner menu for the entire family

  • Shipwreck Restaurant, here you will find an all you care to eat 3-course meal that is served family style; and it has a play area

As for other amenities, you will find a pool onsite, a creative workshop, a mini golf course, pajama parties and our personal favorite, the disco elevator. Having experienced the disco elevator at LEGOLAND New York, this gave us a chuckle every time and we couldn't help but dance every time we entered the elevator.

LEGOLAND Pirate Island Hotel

Over at the LEGOLAND Pirate Island Hotel as you may have guessed, you can expect to find a hotel completely themed to a pirate experience.

All of the rooms here are pirate themed and set up similarly to the LEGOLAND Hotel with a separate area for the kids that has a bunk bed, television, and in room scavenger hunt that leads to a LEGO prize and the bin full of LEGOs for the kids to play with.

There are two eateries here:

  • The Bricks Restaurant, where the food is served as an all you care to eat buffet

  • Shipwreck Restaurant, here you will find an all you care to eat 3 course meal that is served family style and it has a play area

Similar to the LEGOLAND Hotel, the amenities include a creative workshop, access to the mini golf course, and pajama parties.

LEGOLAND Beach Retreat

LEGOLAND Beach Retreat is unique in that it is not located at the LEGOLAND Theme Park. It's located at 100 Legoland Way SE, Winter Haven, FL 33884, on Lake Dexter, and from the map it looks as if the resort covers quite an expansive area.

There are 13 areas or Coves where the rooms are located. The "rooms" appear to be standalone brightly colored cottages.

There are two eateries here:

  • Sandy's Castle Restaurant

  • Bricks Beach Bar

The available details on the restaurants is a bit thin but we would expect that Sandy's would be your all you care to eat breakfast spot. It appears that this restaurant does also serve lunch and dinner.

As for the amenities, the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat has a central pool and a play area in each Cove for the kids to enjoy and onsite parking. Due to its location, a free shuttle to and from the LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park is available.

How much does it cost to stay on-site at the LEGOLAND Florida hotels?

The cost to stay at a LEGOLAND Florida hotel will depend on a number of factors:

  • The resort you choose

  • The time of year

  • Whether or not there are any specials available

  • Deciding to add park admission to your resort stay and for how many parks

  • Your length of stay

We'd encourage you to watch the LEGOLAND Florida Resort website for specials on the type of package that you’re most interested in booking.

Our experience with the LEGOLAND New York Resort was that booking further out yielded the lowest price. The experience may be different at LEGOLAND Florida Resort but it is something to be aware of.

We should note that LEGOLAND Florida does partner with local hotels, which could end up being the most budget-friendly option.

Where is the best place to stay when visiting LEGOLAND?

The answer to this question will be based on your budget, how many nights you're planning to stay, and the proximity to the LEGOLAND Theme Park.

You'll also need to consider the type of themed experience you're looking for. Or indeed, whether you're looking for a themed resort experience at all. If you're not into the LEGO themed rooms, then a Partner Hotel may be the better option.

While we haven't solidified our plans yet for our next visit to LEGOLAND Florida, proximity to the theme park versus the uniqueness of a stay at the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat will likely be the two factors that we will weigh most in making our decision.

LEGOLAND Florida Attractions and Entertainment

LEGOLAND Florida is home to three theme parks:

  • The LEGOLAND Theme Park

  • The LEGOLAND Water Park

  • Peppa Pig Theme Park

LEGOLAND Florida Location, Parking, and Hours

LEGOLAND Florida Location

The LEGOLAND Florida Theme Parks are located approximately 45 minutes from the Orlando area or downtown Tampa. For the purposes of GPS, the theme park address is:

One LEGOLAND Way
Winter Haven, FL 33884

LEGOLAND Florida Parking

You can purchase Regular or Preferred Parking. We'd suggest that you check the website before your visit; however, at the time of the writing of this article, Regular Parking was priced at $23.36 and Preferred Parking at $37.38

Preferred Parking will get you closer to the park entrance. We'd suggest purchasing your parking in advance to save time when you arrive at the park.

LEGOLAND Florida Hours

The park hours will vary by season but generally speaking, you can expect the LEGOLAND Theme Park to open an hour prior to the LEGOLAND Water Park.

As of the writing of this article, the LEOGOLAND Theme Park is open from 10am - 6pm and LEGOLAND Water Park is open from 11am - 5pm.

LEGOLAND Stroller, Wheelchair and ECV Rental

Stroller, Wheelchair and ECV Rental at LEGOLAND Florida

As with all other theme parks in the area, you can expect to find a stroller, wheelchair and ECV rental location at the park entrance.

If needed you have four options to choose from, with prices that range from $25 to $85.

  • Single Stroller

  • Double Stroller

  • ECV with canopy

  • Wheelchair

What is the admission cost for Legoland Florida?

As you might imagine, there are a variety of LEOGOLAND Florida ticket options to choose from. Purchasing your tickets in advance could lead to a discount in pricing. The following ticket combinations are currently available:

LEGOLAND Florida Ticket Combinations:

  • LEGOLAND Florida and Water Park

  • LEGOLAND Florida and Peppa Pig Theme Park

  • LEGOLAND Florida and Water Park and Peppa Pig Theme Park

  • LEGOLAND Florida Annua Pass

LEGOLAND Florida Ticket Prices

  • One day tickets for single or multiple parks depending on the day are currently starting at $84 per person

  • Multiday tickets for a single or multiple parks:

    • Two Day tickets depending on the day are currently starting at $104 per person

    • Three Day tickets depending on the day are currently starting at $129 per person

  • Annual Passes are offered in four varieties and monthly payments are available

    • Bronze is currently offered to Florida residents only and is currently priced at $149.99

    • Silver is currently priced at $199.99 per year and covers one theme park and parking

    • Gold is currently offered at $239.99 per year and covers two theme parks and parking

    • Platinum is currently offered at $299.99 per year and covers unlimited admission to all three parks and preferred parking

Should you Purchase a One-Day, Multi-Park Ticket or Annual Pass for LEGOLAND Florida?

The answer to this question will vary. In our opinion, this really comes down to two things.

  • How often will you visit LEGOLAND Florida? If you intend to visit the park on at least two separate occasions throughout the year, then the annual pass may be worth it

  • Does the cost of your only visit for the year meet or surpass the cost of the ticket that you were going to purchase? And, do you see yourself visiting again within the next 12 months

Typically, if we're able to answer yes to one or both of these questions we opt for an annual pass for a fixed cost of admission over a 12 month period, and for the extra perks that typically come with an annual pass.

Another point to consider is that Annual Passes typically have blackout dates. Be sure to check the dates for the pass that you are considering purchasing and make certain that the dates that you are most likely to visit are not blocked out.

A word about LEGOLAND FLORIDA FASTRACK

This is LEGOLAND's version of the Genie plus pay more to skip the line option. On our visit, we didn't find it necessary to spend for this perk. Currently, FASTRACK is priced at $99.99 per person. That's considerably higher than what you will spend per person for Genie plus, even on a high surge pricing day.

FASTRACK entrance at LEGOLAND Florida

We'd only suggest going with this add-on if you only have one day to spend when visiting the park and the lines appear to be long.

As a barometer, when we visited it was late August, the height of the rainy season and we walked right on to most things. Be sure to check the tip boards and wait times in the app to get a sense of how long the wait times may be before you purchase this upgrade to your ticket.

LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park

There are over 40 rides and attractions, shows, and meet-and-greets to choose from when you visit LEGOLAND FLORIDA.

On our visit, we only barely scratched the surface because we were rained out on the second half of the day. As I mentioned, we visited in August at the height of the rainy season. This is prime travel time for us because it is summer break for our family and like so many of you, it’s the most convenient time to travel.

With this in mind, we'll share our experiences based on all the rides, attractions, and shows we were able to cover on our visit to the LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park.

LEGOLAND Florida Ride Height Requirements

As you might expect the ride heights in this theme park are perfect for families. They range from none at all up to 44”, the highest minimum height requirement, which we encountered on the first ride of our day at Mia’s Riding Adventure.

Mia’s Riding Adventure

When you enter Mia's Riding Adventure, you board your horse and strap in for this ride that glides and spins you from side to side.

Mia’s Riding Adventure LEGOLAND Florida

Our little guy and I quote, "loved it". He enjoyed the spinning motion while climbing to the highest point on the saucer track.

The Royal Joust

The Royal Joust is for kids aged 4 to 12 and has a 36" minimum height requirement. This ride took our little guy around a medieval themed track on a LEGO horse.

Royal Joust LEGOLAND Florida

The horse mimics a slow gallop around track. The ride does not go fast, the track is fla, and there are no dips or curves that may be startling to your younger riders.

Merlin’s Challenge

Merlin's Challenge is a spinner ride that has a minimum height requirement of 36". The ride is on a circular track and gradually picks up speed as the ride progresses.

We love a spinning ride, well most of us anyway. Even so, our group was able to handle the spinning motion and no one was dizzy at the end.

However, if you have anyone in your group who may be sensitive to spinning rides you may want to watch this one before you ride.

The Dragon

The Dragon is a roller coaster with a 40" minimum height requirement. This ride starts off indoors and transitions to an outdoor roller coaster.

The Dragon LEGOLAND Florida

The Dragon may be a great first roller coaster for your littles. Our little guy enjoyed his first time on this coaster and was excited to ride it again when we visited LEGOLAND New York.

LEGO Ninjago The Ride

Located in LEGO Ninjago World, LEGO Ninjago The Ride is a family ride that does not have a minimum height requirement. You'll need to grab a pair of 3D glasses to begin your training as a Ninja.

LEGO Ninjago World LEGOLAND Florida

We really enjoyed this ride but be warned, it will give your arms a workout! While you're in LEGO Ninjago World, be sure to check out all of the Ninja play areas in this land.

On you’re way into the land we recommend taking some time to stop and enjoy the playground area just inside the gate. Here you’ll find Cole’s Rock Climb, Jay’s Lightening Drill, Kai’s Spinners, and Zane’s Temple Build.

Kai’s Swing LEGO Ninjago World

Cole’s Rock Climb LEGO Ninjago World

Jay’s Lightning Drill LEGO Ninjago World

Lost Kingdom Adventure

Lost Kingdom Adventure is another adventure that you'll need to grab a pair of 3D glasses to enjoy. This ride does have a 30" minimum height requirement and is very similar to the arcade style rides you'll find over at Walt Disney World, like Buzz Light Year or Men In Black over at Universal Orlando.

Land of Adventure LEGOLAND Florida

You'll grab your laser gun and use it to ward off skeletons and mummies while you search for the hidden treasure. We enjoyed this one. If you're competitive, this one is for you.

Coastersaurus

This wooden roller coaster has a 42" height requirement and is designed to take you through a jungle filled with LEGO dinosaurs.

This could potentially be another contender for a first roller coaster for your littles. While this wasn't his first time, our little guy enjoyed this coaster.

Ford Driving School

There are two versions of this ride. The Ford Jr. Driving School is geared for children aged 3-5. and the Ford Driving School is for kids aged 6-13.

Ford Driving School LEGOLAND Florida

We can't say enough about this one. Our little guy enjoyed driving his own car and actually following the rules of the road—if you don't count that time or two he drove on the wrong side.

Ford Driving School Car LEGOLAND Florida

At the end of the ride, you do have the option to purchase a driver’s license with your little’s photo.

Flying School

Flying School has a 44" minimum height requirement and was a first of its type roller coaster for our little guy. On this coaster, to give the flying effect, there is no floor and your feet dangle.

Flying School LEGOLAND Florida

Our little guy loved this coaster as well. As his mom and a non-coaster enthusiast, I was more nervous than he was. With that in mind, this may not be the coaster to go with as a first coaster for your little.

LEGOLAND Shows

There are a number of different shows to choose from at LEGOLAND Florida. There's the Brickbeard's Watersport Stunt Show and The Funtime Theatre which offers four different 4D shows.

The Funtime Theatre

We happened upon the Funtime Theatre just in time to catch a showing of LEGO MYTHICA 4D: Journey to Mythica. This was a great 4D experience, the animation and interactivity of the theatre were top notch.

Fun Town Theater LEGOLAND Florida

You will get sprayed with water and should also be aware that though animated, there are scary characters in the movie. Our little guy was startled and jumped a few times when certain characters appeared on the screen.

Shopping and Dining at Legoland Florida

Kick’n Chicken Co.

We grabbed lunch at this chicken only restaurant, located right across from the Ford Driving School. We are pleased to report that the chicken was better than your standard theme park fare.

Kick’n Chicken - Chicken Tender Meal LEGOLAND Florida

The food was fresh and the flavors were good on both the tenders and the grilled chicken sandwich. The portions were sizable and we walked away feeling full and with leftovers.

This restaurant is one of 15 different locations to grab everything from coffee and ice cream to a full meal.

Granny's Apple Fries

The Granny Apple Fries are the iconic snack of this park. Granny Smith apple slices are served warm and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. There's even a whipped cream dipping sauce for your fries.

With the rain storm, we missed our opportunity to give these a try, and they are now on the top of our list as a food item for our next visit to LEGOLAND Florida.

So, how many days are needed to fully see Legoland Florida?

Based on our experience, we would suggest a minimum of two full days to see and do everything in the park without feeling rushed. If you're interested in the Water Park and the Peppa Pig park, you'll need to add a day for each of these parks.

Legoland Florida Special Events

As with most Florida theme parks you can expect that LEGOLAND Florida will have special seasonal events to celebrate major holidays where they dress the park for the occasion. Here are a couple of them:

Brick-or-Treat

Brick-or-Treat is the Halloween celebration in the park, where they have treat trails and you can dress in costume to go trick or treating.

The best news is that the Brick-or-Treat party is included with your park admission.

Holidays at LEGOLAND

Holidays at LEGOLAND is the winter holiday celebration in the park, where the park is decked out for the holidays complete with a holiday village. Here again, the Holidays at LEGOLAND is included with your park admission.

What else is there to do at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort?

There are two other parks for you to check out on your visit to LEGOLAND Florida Resort. On our last trip, we did not have a chance to visit either of these parks but we are definitely interested in the Water Park.

LEGOLAND Florida Water Park

On our first visit to LEGOLAND Florida, we did not have an opportunity to visit the water park. Honestly, we were expecting more of a splash pad, similar to other theme parks, and not a full-on water park. Here's what we learned about the water park during our visit.

Water Park Entrance LEGOLAND Florida

In order to access the water park, you will need to walk to the back of the LEGOLAND Theme park right across from the Flying School. Entry to the water park does require separate admission via an add-on to your ticket.

There are 6 rides and attractions in the water park that include a lazy river, two slides, and a wave pool. There are two places to grab a bite to eat, Beach Street Tacos and Beach-n-Brick Grill.

One thing worth noting is that there are Water Park Cabanas. That’s right, the park is large enough that if you’d like, you can treat yourself to a cabana.

There are three different cabanas to choose and all come with a standard package that includes:

  • Access to the cabana until the water park closes for 8 guests

  • 2 souvenir towels

  • A safe

  • A mini fridge with 10 bottles of water

  • 2 reclining chairs and 2 regular

  • A cabana host

  • The option to upgrade to a premium package

Duplo Splash Cabanas

These cabanas are reported to be in a private area of the park, which should make it great for giving the littles that still need a nap, a place to rest with minimal noise.

The cabanas range in price from $119 to $189. The premium option includes additional towels, a tote, LEGO souvenirs and a storage container.

Joker Soaker Cabanas

These cabanas are closest to the Joker Soaker and the wave pool and seems like where you want to be if your goal is to be in the heart of the action.

The cabanas range in price from $129 to $199. The premium option here also comes with additional towels, a tote, LEGO souvenirs and a storage container.

Twin Chaser Cabanas

These cabanas are the top of the line offering at the water park. And what you might ask makes these cabanas the most expensive option? Well, I’ll tell you. It’s the sofa that seats 3, 3 tables (1 large, 2 small) that generate the extra price.

Site unseen, we have to also assume that these cabanas are also larger to accommodate larger and more furniture. They also seem to be located close to the action and near the major water features in the park.

The cabanas range in price from $299 to $369. The premium option here is the same as the others with additional towels, a tote, LEGO souvenirs and a storage container included.

All of that said, since we did not visit the water park we can't comment on the experience.

The one thing we would suggest is that if you only have one day to spend at LEGOLAND Florida, we say spend it in the theme park.

Peppa Pig Theme Park

The latest gate to open was the Peppa Pig Theme Park, which was built with the littles in mind. There are currently 16 rides and attractions in this theme park. Many of the rides do not have a minimum height requirement; rather, there is an indication of how tall you have to be if you'd like to ride by yourself.

There is one restaurant to enjoy in the theme park, Miss Rabbit's Dinner.

Same as with the water park, we did not have an opportunity to visit the Peppa Pig Theme Park, so we can not comment on this experience. That said, it does seem perfect for the toddlers and little kids in the family.

Final Thoughts

We hope that you enjoyed this walk through of the LEGOLAND Florida park!

It's definitely in our plans to visit this park again on an upcoming visit to the central Florida area so that we can share more of the rides, shows, and experiences with you.

Until next time, enjoy the journey!
